My twin and me - Sarah Sidwell Photography

I'm 21-years-old and currently pursuing my degree in Pre-Law Political Science; I'm minoring English. Politics is without a doubt a corrupt institution, but also one that is an important part of our lives--whether we like it or not. And as corrupt as it may be, it's my passion and has been for a decade. I'm an aspiring lawyer, writer, and publisher. I dream of having a big farm one day.

The improper use of "your" instead of "you're" is a huge pet peeve of mine. Whether I'm reading my peers' papers or a best-selling novel, I am subconsciously proofreading every word, punctuation mark, etc.

The power of words and knowledge is absolutely remarkable. The pen truly is mightier than the sword; whoever holds the pen in his or her hand has the power to create or destroy. Writing is a force of its own to be reckoned with. Anyone who ever uttered the words, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me" clearly didn't grasp the efficacy, nor the intricacy, of the human psyche.

"Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly."
